The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center high school Athlete of the Week voting occurs each week during high school sports competition and recognizes athletes across all sports.

High school sports: 2022-23 Athletes of the week

Once athletes win during the regular season, they're not eligible to be back on the ballot until the postseason. If athletes haven't won in the regular season, they can be nominated more than once.

Here are this week's Athlete of the Week candidates:

Abigail Adkins, Johnstown basketball: Scored 30 points in a 58-30 win over Watkins Memorial.

Jade Gerhard, Olentangy Orange gymnastics: A captain, she won her third OCC championship along with helping Orange winning its first OCC. She has won first place all around six times this season. She is a scholar athlete with a 4.0 GPA.

Stu Heckathorne, Gahanna Lincoln hockey: Had 72 saves in a 1-0 win over Olentangy Orange that included five overtimes and a shootout.

Layla Merriweather, Olentangy Berlin basketball: Set a school record (for the second time this year) for points in a game with 28 to go along with five 3-point shot, nine rebounds and three steals in a 57-51 win over Westerville Central. For the season, she averages 17.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.9 steals a game and has made 57 3-point shots in 20 games.

Aliyah Moore, Granville basketball: Made eight 3-pointers, setting a program single-game record, in a 72-35 win over Northridge. She scored 24 points in the game.
