The Best Dressed Men at The 2024 Oscars
At the 1968 Oscars, Sammy Davis Jr. defied the sartorial menswear codes of the time. Amid the sea of penguins (men in black tuxedo jackets, pants, and bowties), the American singer and actor shone in a jacket that featured a lightly beaded neckpiece, and a crisp white ascot held together by a pin.
Davis Jr. was ahead of his time. Today, menswear red-carpet fashion continues to be an entertaining spectacle on its own, as men have become more and more experimental with their fashion choices and the Oscars 2024 is no different. Take a look at Simu Liu, who wore a Fendi black suit. He swapped out a suit and tie for a low-neck shirt and a brooch clasped at the waist.
Of course, traditional tuxedos will never fail to impress (Saint Laurent, Brunello Cucinelli, and Ralph Lauren continue to prove that point). Aligned with the minimal streak of Gucci's new creative director, Sabato De Sarno, Mark Ronson wore a black Gucci suit with a crisp tuxedo shirt and black bowtie. Teo Yoo looked very classic Hollywood dapper by donning a navy tuxedo suit. But, his look had a secret weapon: a tortoise shaped brooch in honor of his pet tortoise, Momo, who passed away last year. "I was in tears for about three days," he told the red carpet interviewer.
