Best of the best: The top performances of the week in Bucks County area sports

It was a week for milestones, as plenty of student-athletes reached for the stars and reached significant milestones in their high school careers. Check out the top performances in softball, lacrosse, baseball, and volleyball.

Be sure to vote for the Boys Athlete of the Week and Girls Athlete of the Week beginning Tuesday evening, through Thursday at 8 p.m.

Top Performances in Girls Lacrosse:

Kendall Posey, Pennridge

Posey dished out six assists, surpassing 100 for her career, and scored a pair of goals in a win over North Penn.

Carmen DeCaro, Bensalem

The junior team captain had a huge game on Monday, when she scored 10 goals to lead the Owls to a 17-3 win over Chichester.

Grace Holmes, Pennsbury

She scored four goals and assisted on four more, and also contributed 11 draw controls, in a victory over Neshaminy.

Madie Thistlewaite, New Hope-Solebury

The Bucknell University commit erupted for nine goals in a 13-2 win over Hatboro-Horsham.

Elizabeth Hearn, CR South

The junior was unstoppable against Souderton, scoring seven goals, including her 100th career goal, in the win.

Charlotte Ondria, CR North

The senior scored three goals in a win against Bensalem, including the 100th of her career. In addition, the team captain contributed three draw controls and one assist.

Nora Luskin, Abington

With nine seconds remaining in overtime, the freshman scored the game-winning goal, giving the Ghosts a thrilling 11-10 victory over CB West.

Erin Ely, Abington

With her team trailing and time running out, the freshman scored the game-tying goal with two seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to force OT against CB West. The Ghosts went on to win 11-10.

Top Performances in Softball:

Delaney Stout, Upper Moreland

The freshman reached a major milestone when she recorded her 100th career strikeout in the Panthers’ 11th game of the season against Quakertown. In addition to striking out 14 Quakertown batters, Stout fanned 19 batters against Upper Darby, pitching a complete-game one-hitter to earn the win.

Olivia Schlindwein, CR North

The sophomore allowed five hits in a complete game win, allowing just one run while striking out four and walking one against high-powered Souderton.

Emily Dziekan, CR North

The freshman made her varsity debut on Friday, when she cracked a three-run double to help the Indians defeat CB East.

Bella Nunn, North Penn

The Knights’ ace was at the top of her game against previously unbeaten CR South, giving up just two hits and no walks while striking out seven in the complete-game 1-0 win. Against Owen J. Roberts, she allowed four hits and one walk while fanning 13 in another complete-game victory.

Ava Detwiler, Souderton

The sophomore had two hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs as Souderton picked up a big win against Neshaminy.

Ella Wheeler, CB South

Wheeler had a huge game against Bensalem, going 3-for-4 with a triple and two doubles, while driving in three runs and scoring twice in the win. She also had three RBIs in a victory over Truman.

Lane Mclaughlin, CB South

In her first varsity start in the circle, the sophomore gave up just five hits while striking out 10 batters in six innings in a 12-1 win over Bensalem.

Alyssa Tooley, Hatboro-Horsham

The Hatters’ ace had another dominant outing, giving up just three hits and two walks while striking out 11 in a 3-1 win over William Tennent. She also had two hits, including a double, and one RBI.

Dana Delamater, Dock Mennonite

The junior tossed a gem to earn the win against Renaissance Academy, striking out an impressive 17 batters while giving up three hits and two walks in a complete-game effort.

Mikayla Hesdon, Abington

She had four RBIs against Springfield to lead the Ghosts to their third win of the season.

Alexis Griffin, CB South

In her first start in the circle, Griffin tossed a one-hit shutout, striking out 10, in an 11-0 win over Harry S. Truman.

Julia Scannapieco, CR South

In her second start in the circle this season, Scannapieco pitched her second straight complete-game shutout, this time holding Pennridge to six hits while striking out 11 in the win.

Liv Stevens, North Penn

She drove in the lone run of the game with a bunt in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Knights a 1-0 win over CR South. In a victory over Owen J. Roberts, Stevens hit a two-run home run.

Kaylee Masterson, CB East

In the bottom of the eighth, Masterson singled to drive in the game-winning run in a 7-6 victory over Pennridge.

Molly Ambrosius, Neshaminy

The sophomore continued to impress in the circle, pitching a complete-game shutout against Truman in which she gave up just two hits and one walk while striking out 13 batters.

Mabel Klossner, New Hope-Solebury

The freshman struck out eight batters in just three innings of work, while giving up just two hits and no walks, and she also had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs in a win over Wissahickon.

Dagny Mobley, New Hope-Solebury

The freshman gave up a lone hit through four innings while striking out six in a win over Wissahickon. Mobley was also perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double.

Ava Storlazzi, Pennsbury

The Falcons’ leadoff hitter was 4-for-4 at the plate, with her afternoon including a triple, three stolen bases and two runs scored in a win over CB South.

Cadence Lewis, Quakertown

Lewis had three hits and two stolen bases, and also drove in a pair of runs and scored twice to help the Panthers edge New Hope-Solebury. Against Upper Moreland, she doubled and drove in two runs in the win, and had four RBIs in a victory over Cheltenham.

Leah Schwalm, Quakertown

The junior had a huge day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a home run and a triple, driving in two runs and scoring three times in a win over Upper Moreland. Against Cheltenham, she homered again and drove in five runs on two hits in two innings in the victory.

Lina Sponheimer, Bensalem

She went 3-for-3 with a double, driving in two runs and scoring twice, in the Owls’ win over Pennridge.

Megan Klein, Bensalem

The Owls’ leadoff hitter tripled and drew a walk, and scored three runs for the Owls in a 12-1 win over Pennridge. Against Conwell-Egan, she was 3-for-4 with a stolen base and scored a run to help the Owls to a 7-5 win.

Jill Rickards, Neshaminy

After drawing a walk in her at-bat, Rickards showed off her speed by scoring from first base on a hard-hit single by Olivia Hughes, helping Neshaminy secure a close win over CB West.

Zahmira Coppola-Miller, Neshaminy

She hit two home runs and drove in three of Neshaminy’s four runs in a 4-1 win over CB East.

Helen Woloshyn, CR South

She went 3-for-3 with a walk, stole three bases and scored a run to help the Golden Hawks edge Pennsbury 3-0.

Ava Fiumara, Germantown Academy

She had three hits, including a home run and a double, and drove in seven runs in the Patriots’ win over Westtown Academy.

Alex Johnson, Germantown Academy

The center fielder hit two triples, along with a double and a single, to go 4-for-4 with 3 RBIs in a win over Westtown.

Liv Reynolds, Germantown Academy

She hit a grand slam home run, along with a double, and drew three walks and scored four times in the Patriots’ win over Inter-Ac rival Notre Dame. She also pitched two innings without giving up a hit, and struck out four, including her 100th career strikeout.

Jenna Morrison, Gwynedd Mercy

The Monarchs’ leadoff hitter was a perfect 3-for-3, with a pair of doubles and a home run, drove in four runs and scored three times in a win over Lansdale Catholic.

Karlye Teman, Palisades

The junior ace pitched a complete-game no-hitter, striking out 17 batters while walking two in a 9-0 win over Pen Argyl. Against Palmerton, she gave up just one hit and an unearned run while striking out 12 in a hard-luck 1-0 loss.

Top Performances in Baseball:

Reed Curtier, CR South

The sophomore gave up just three hits and an unearned run while striking out nine through seven innings in the Golden Hawks’ 2-1 win over North Penn.

Johnny Mendola, CR South

After leading off the eighth inning with a triple, Mendola scored the game-winning run for the Golden Hawks, beating the throw to the plate, in a walkoff win against North Penn.

Chris Cavalcante, La Salle

The junior pitcher had a shutout through six innings, giving up just two hits and striking out 8 in a 3-0 victory over Penn Charter.

Isaiah Brown, Hatboro-Horsham

With two outs and the bases loaded in the ninth inning, Brown singled to drive the game-winning run in a 3-2 victory over Tennent.

Luke Poley, CB South

Called upon to pinch hit with two outs in the seventh inning, Poley singled to send the winning run across the plate. Poley had the lone hit for the Titans against Bensalem in the 1-0 victory.

Sam Greer, CB West

The senior hit a pair of home runs and drove in six runs while earning the win on the mound by pitching five shutout innings against Harry S. Truman.

Justin Lucas, Holy GhostPrep

The senior gave up just one walk and one hit through six innings, while fanning an impressive 13 batters in the Firebirds’ 6-0 win against Penn Charter.

Edwin Rosado, Holy Ghost

The junior went 3-for-3 with three RBIs in a win over Penn Charter.

Chance Wideman, Bristol

He had a big day at the plate, driving in five runs on four hits in a win over Renaissance Academy.

Hayden Scancella, Bristol

The freshman didn’t allow a hit through four innings while striking out six in a win against Renaissance Academy. Against Jenkintown, he led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs in the win.

Chris Ortlip, Archbishop Wood 

He was 2-for-3 with four RBIs in the Vikings win over Harriton.

Cubby Bailey, Archbishop Wood

The sophomore’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning drove home the game-winning run for the Vikings in a 7-6 victory over Germantown Academy.

Aidan von Zuben, Germantown Academy

He gave up just three hits while striking out 10 through six innings to secure the 2-0 win against Penn Charter.

John DiLello, Germantown Academy

He went 2-for-3 and drove in both of the Patriots’ runs in a 2-0 win against Inter-Ac rival Penn Charter.

Top Performances in Boys Lacrosse:

Tom Cardi, Conwell-Egan

Cardi scored the game-winning goal in overtime to give the Eagles a huge win over rival Archbishop Ryan. He finished with five goals in the 12-11 win, and had five more goals and an assist to lead the Eagles past Father Judge, 11-10.

Andrew Zazoff, CR North

He scored six goals and had five assists to lead the Indians to a win over previously unbeaten Springfield Twp.

Conor Chapin, Abington

After being promoted from JV, the freshman scored one goal and assisted on two more in the Ghosts’ win over New Hope-Solebury.

Peyton Bannak, Souderton

Bannak won 15-of-18 faceoffs and scooped up nine ground balls in Souderton’s win over Neshaminy.

Jaden Beach, Pennsbury

The goalie rejected nine shots on goal to secure the Falcons’ 5-3 win over North Penn.

Tyler Vandermark, Pennridge

The Rams’ goalie turned away 15 shots on net in a 12-4 victory over CB East.

Keith Conner, CB South

The senior led the way with five assists and two goals in the Titans’ win over rival CB West.

Don Varacallo, CB South

The Titans’ goalie had a busy afternoon in net against CB West, as he recorded 19 saves to secure a 12-9 win in the intradistrict rivalry game.

Top Track & Field Performances from the Penn Relays:

Brady Ott, Council Rock North

The senior had his best showing of the season last weekend, when he raced to a ninth-place finish in the High School Boys 3,000-meter Championship at the Penn Relays. Ott finished with a season-best 8:36.24 time.

Will Palopoli, La Salle

The senior finished 16th in the Boys 3,000-meter championship at the Penn Relays.

Gwen Hamilton, Archbishop Wood

The sophomore had an impressive 15th-place finish in the Varsity Girls mile run at the Penn Relays, crossing the finish line in 5:00.68, a season-best time.

Destini Smith, Souderton

The junior finished seventh in the girls triple jump with a mark of 40-8.25.

Jacob Tannenbaum, CB East

He placed 11th in the boys discus with a 161-3 throw.

Richard Newell, Nathan Terry, Benjamin Fuhrmeister, Nate Fehrman, CB West

The relay team finished third in the Championship of America Boys 4x800 meter relay with a time of 7:45.99.

Aidan Kearns, James Kuduk, Matthew Myers, Aiden Maue, Souderton

The relay team took eighth place in the Championship of America Boys distance medley relay with a time of 10:14.37.
