Best in the area: Here are the Coastal Bend golfers who qualified for the state tournament

The state golf tournament is approaching with several Coastal Bend golfers taking center stage.

The boys get things started April 29-30 with athletes from Class 2A-5A competing and the girls will play May 6-7 with players from Class 3A-5A.

Here's what to know about the golfers competing.

BOYS

London boys: Led by Noah Gonzales' two-day score of 163 in regionals, the Pirates won the Region IV-3A title behind Trace Renteria, Jacob Barrera, Ty Wiseman and Jacob Uballe. The Class 3A tournament will be played at Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin.

Broc Talamantez, Gregory-Portland: Talamantez is the lone golfer competing for the Wildcats after carding a two-day score of 155 at the Region IV-5A tournament. Talamantez, who played in the state tournament last season, finished tied for eighth at regionals. The 5A tournament will be played at Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown.

Noeh Resendez, Kingsville: Resendez makes his return to the state tournament after shooting a two-day score of 145 at regionals. This is Resendez' third trip to the state tournament after advancing with this teammates the past three seasons. The 4A tournament will be played at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland.

Vince Patridge, George West: Partidge earned his state spot in the Class 3A tournament after turning in a two-day total of 158 at regionals. The Class 3A tournament will be played at Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin.

Tagg Silvas, Woodsboro: Silvas is playing in the state tournament after firing a 157 at the Region IV-2A tournament in Corpus Christi. Class 2A's tournament will be held at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin.

GIRLS

Veterans Memorial girls: Kieli Saenz led the way in the Eagles' return to the state golf tournament for the second time in three seasons. Saenz finished third overall at the Region IV-5A tournament by shooting a two-day score of 145. Also representing Veterans Memorial will be Viviana Farias, Cassandra Buemio, Samantha Buemio and Rihanna Renteria. The 5A tournament will be played at Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown.

Hannah Creekmore, Rockport-Fulton: Creekmore continued her dominant play by winning another Region IV-4A title to secure her trip back to the Class 4A state tournament. Creekmore shot an impressive 66-68 for a 134 over the two-day tournament in Victoria. The 4A tournament will be played at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland.

London girls: The Pirates clinched their second consecutive trip to the state tournament after winning the Region IV-3A tournament with a two-day score of 713. Ava Villegas led the way with a 161 to win the regional title. Other members playing from London will be Charly Renteria, January Naifeh, Payton Freeman and Erin Sip. Renteria finished third overall in the tournament. The Class 3A tournament will be played at Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin.
