When selecting the best air fryer toaster ovens, we first did market research to find the most popular models currently available from a wide range of brands. Then, we gathered as many models as possible for our editors to test at home. Once they became familiarized with their air fryer toaster ovens and cooked with them multiple times, our testers filled out a detailed questionnaire about the appliance’s pros and cons and assigned ratings for value, functionality, ease of use, quality and aesthetics. (For consistency, all testers cooked a batch of frozen fries using the air fry function, as well as tested any other functions of their choice.) The best air fryer toasters were versatile, simple enough to use and cooked food as good as, if not better than, a conventional oven.

However, as a hybrid appliance that features 12 other functions in addition to air frying, the myriad features make it worth its footprint on your countertop. You can cook an entire pizza, toast nine slices of bread and fit a 9-by-13-inch baking dish inside. The oven comes with a broiling pan, wire rack and air fryer basket, and it has a backlit digital display and an internal oven light. I (Katherine, PureWow Senior Food Editor) found that the oven preheated quickly, in about five minutes, and air frying frozen French fries yielded crispy results—although I’d recommend rotating the tray halfway through for even browning.
2. Cosori 26-Quart Ceramic Air Fryer Oven

The Cosori Ceramic Air Fryer Oven is a 13-in1 model that features a flat ceramic interior heating element (as opposed to exposed elements), so it’s designed to wipe down easily after cooking. Unlike some models, it also offers sous vide and dehydrate functionalities. PureWow Director of Affiliate Strategy Pamela Masin put it to the test, cooking frozen bagels and a pizza in addition to French fries. “The air fry function makes items crispy, and the pizza was cooked quickly,” she says. “But I wouldn’t use the toast/bagel setting again—it took longer than my standard slice toaster.” Her only real qualm with this air fryer toaster oven? Steam escapes from the machine during cooking, so anything nearby (like cabinets) gets hot. “I also didn’t love how the steam makes water pool out the bottom, which the manual said is to be expected, but it felt messier than using my oven.”
3. Beautiful by Drew Digital Air Fry Toaster Oven with Infrared Technology

PureWow VP of Content Candace Davison tested the Beautiful by Drew Digital Air Fry Toaster Oven, which has infrared heating technology, ten cooking functions and can fit up to nine slices of toast—all for about $100. It needed to live up to her previous air fryer toaster oven, which had recently bit the dust. Her review? “It’s very easy to use and I can bake or air fry enough food for two to three people in a single batch, unlike with a basket air fryer. Plus, it preheats in no time, making getting dinner on the table during a time crunch so much easier.” She did find baking cookies to be more challenging and had to drop the cooking temperature by 50 degrees to get her desired results, but otherwise found the appliance heated evenly. “I couldn’t find any cold spots,” she says, “no matter how I arranged food on the pan. Foods crisped beautifully without drying out.”

With eleven cooking options and Breville’s Element iQ functionality, the Smart Oven Air Fryer is designed to use algorithms to create the ideal oven environment for your food. Stephanie Meraz, PureWow’s Associate Fashion Commerce Editor, tested the appliance and found that the heating technology took some trial and error. “When I cooked my frozen French fries, some of the fries cooked perfectly while others had burn marks or felt soggy and limp,” she says. However, she appreciated how customizable the tech makes each function. “You can completely modify everything mid-cook if need be.” Be warned, though: Meraz feels this air fryer toaster oven takes up a lot of counterspace for the amount of food it can actually cook.

The Ninja Double Oven has a unique design among air fryer toaster ovens—its two doors creates two separate ovens that can cook at different temperatures and times simultaneously. In her testing, PureWow Executive Managing Editor Catrina Yohay found that while this does mean the air fryer is large, it also makes it useful for times when your regular oven would be busy (like holidays). She found it easy to use and notes how fast it preheats: “Both top oven and air fryer are ready to go in about three minutes, which was so nice when I was in a rush to get dinner made or got a late-night hankering for something sweet like cookies and didn't have to bother firing up the normal oven.”

With French doors and multiple tray levels, he Kalorik MAXX Air Fryer Oven is large enough to cook a full meal in one go. PureWow Executive Editor Alexia Dellner has even cooked a 13-pound turkey in hers. “Because of its large capacity and multiple functions, the Kalorik Air Fryer feels like a traditional oven that can cook everything you’re used to a little bit quicker, plus just so happens to be able to air fry,” she says. “It’s large but not a total eyesore —the stainless steel feels sleek and the single-handed automatic open glass French doors are a nice touch.”

Our Place (maker of the well-known Always Pan) offers a six-setting air fryer toaster oven in the same aesthetic as its other products. Although it’s a little less high tech than its competition, according to PureWow Assistant Commerce Editor Natalie LaBarbera, it’s impressively versatile and able to stand up to a full-size oven. “As someone who has always been intimidated by all of the buttons and settings on standard air fryers, I was excited to find that this oven required nothing more than placing my food in the air fry basket and flipping the switch to the correct mode,” she says. Plus, it heats up fast and comes in four pleasing colors (with limited edition versions frequently available). The size is smaller than other air fryer toaster ovens, which could be an advantage or a drawback depending on your preferences—for reference, it can handle up to a 4.5-pound chicken.
