We've said it once and we'll say it again: it's the largest dogs that are the biggest scaredy cats. It's true! Some of the biggest dogs out there are positively scared of their own shadow. Take a Bernese Mountain Dog, who seems to always get spooked whenever his cat fur-sibling comes around.

Poor Dobby. Whenever the cat is around he just can't seem to catch a break.

While it might seem strange that a dog as big as the Bernese Mountain Dog would be scared of the cat, something tells us that the cat has done something in the past to strike fear in the heart of the pup.

As the video online shows, Dobby was minding his own business when the cat walked in and gave him the heebie-jeebies. The dog tried so hard not to make any eye contact. Maybe he was hoping that if he just ignored Dobby, the cat would go away.

"When your dog is afraid of the cat," the video's caption reads.

Commenters really felt for Dobby. "The dog is like 'I’m so afraid of her,'" one person teased. "His little eyebrow prints add more expression into it too," someone else pointed out. "I had a Pit Bull who was afraid of my Chihuahua," shared another commenter.  "Take the bone, just don’t hurt me," one commenter teased, as if reading Dobby's innermost thoughts.

Dog Breed That Are Scaredy Cats

Dobby isn't alone in being a little bit of a chicken. There are actually many breeds out there that have reputations for getting scared easily. Here are just a few that would definitely need to sleep with a nightlight.

Dalmatians are funny. We tend to think of the spotted dogs as being completely home in places like firehouses. But the truth is that these pups can be nervous and fearful, especially around kids.

Shar-peis are another easily spooked breed. Interestingly, these dogs were originally bred to be guard dogs. But now that sort of means they're very cautious around strangers.

Chihuahuas definitely have a bark that is bigger than their bite. These dogs are sometimes known for getting feisty. But that's probably because they're nervous around people they don't know too well. When truly scared, Chihuahuas are bound to shake or shiver.

Sadly, it's their backgrounds that make many Greyhounds a little more apprehensive. Many come from Greyhound farms where they're forced into racing. This means that many of them don't have lots of exposure to humans and can be sort of shy or timid.

Whatever the reason, scared dogs need lots of love. Or they need to be kept as far away from their mean cat siblings as possible.
