Benjamin Moore Just Announced the 2024 Color of the Year
Benjamin Moore is launching off into the unknown: The paint brand announced Blue Nova (825) as its Color of the Year for 2024. The blend of blue with a hint of violet has a cosmic vibe that encourages adventure, beckoning you to explore and indulge in new experiences.
The galaxy-inspired color was introduced during a live stream press conference from aerospace company Blue Origin's orbital launch site in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Andrea Magno and Sharon Grech—who are part of Benjamin Moore's color marketing and development team—explained that they landed on Blue Nova for its balanced nature and undercurrent of reassurance. "[Blue Nova] is a midtone, so it's not too dark and not too light," Grech said during the live stream.
While excellent when paired with neutrals, Blue Nova empowers consumers to play with color. Magno and Grech recommend juxtaposing the grounding blue with dynamic, contrasting colors like orange to create an ethereal atmosphere. For a statement-making pop in your space, consider using the color on the ceiling in a dining room or all over in a small powder bathroom.
Benjamin Moore also announced its color trends palette for 2024, which features 10 captivating colors, including Blue Nova, that were all inspired by the night sky. The hues blend traditional and modern aesthetics, ranging from the designer-favorite White Dove and Honeybee to Teacup Rose and Hazy Lilac. The palette offers a sense of infinite possibilities and combinations, whether you're refreshing your bedroom or dreaming up a new home office.
To bring Blue Nova to the forefront, Benjamin Moore partnered with Blue Origin and its nonprofit called Club for the Future, which is dedicated to inspiring future generations to pursue STEM education and careers in the space industry. The companies plan to reimagine design at local hospitals and create space-themed events utilizing the color of the year. While you can't jam out to a song like "Raspberry Blush" by Chromeo, the tune Benjamin Moore commissioned to celebrate their Color of the Year for 2023, you can still incorporate this year's magical color into your home—and perhaps engage in science-related donations, activities, or exploration of your own.
