Bengals President Reveals The Plan For QB Joe Burrow
Last week, reports came out that Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will enter training camp as a proper participant without being placed on any lists. But that doesn’t mean the team won’t exercise some caution.
Speaking to the media this week, Bengals president Mike Brown indicated that we might not see Burrow taking the field for preseason. Per ESPN’s Ben Baby, Brown said that the team probably won’t even put Burrow out until the start of the regular season.
It’s not an unreasonable precaution. Burrow didn’t exactly need the preseason last year to thrive as a rookie.
The NFL canceled all of last year’s preseason games in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. But Burrow, Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert, Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts and Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa didn’t necessarily suffer because of it.
Coming off the injuries that Burrow sustained, it’s understandable that the team doesn’t want to put him at risk.

Burrow went into the 2020 season as the only rookie Week 1 starter. He quickly proved worthy of the job, dazzling teams in September and setting records all the way until his season-ending injury in Week 10.
Multiple ligament injuries along with a damaged meniscus required months of treatment. But Burrow made a full recovery just in time for the start of training camp. And he’s already chilling in practice:

Before his injury, Burrow was averaging 269 yards per game while completing 65-percent of his passes.
With his work ethic, there’s a very good chance he picks up right where he left off.
