Jason Mewes doesn't think it's over between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.

The Jay and Silent Bob Rebootactor, who has starred in several Kevin Smith movies with Affleck over the past 30 years, was asked by TMZ on May 22, whether he'd heard rumors that Affleck and Lopez's marriage was "on the rocks."

"I don't know if that's true. I don't believe that," said Mewes, 49, who added that he has spoken to Affleck, 51, once since August 2022 wedding celebration with Lopez, 54, in Savannah, Georgia.

Of reports that Affleck and Lopez are living separately at the moment, Mewes told the outlet, "Maybe he's busy working and she's working and it's too much with the kids."

"I'm not saying that's what it is — I don't know — but why does it go right to they're having trouble? Just curious," the actor added.

Mewes went on to reflect on the couple's wedding day in Georgia, telling TMZ, "I'm being sappy, but it seemed very genuine when you were there watching their interactions."

"Like, she sang to him," he said. "It just seemed, after 20 years ... very sincere and real. I would be shocked [if they split]. But again, I don't know. They live different lives than me."

Talk of issues between the Argoactor-director and the “Let's Get Loud” singer comes less than two years after they eloped in Las Vegas and, the following month, celebrated with a reception in Georgia that Lopez described as a “dream.”

A source connected to Lopez said in the new issue of PEOPLE that her marriage to Affleck “is not in the best place at the moment,” as they deal with their different personalities and views on what to share about their personal lives.

“She likes to open her heart to her fans and to the world,” a music source said of Lopez. “He is more introspective and private. This has been difficult day-to-day.”

Affleck, who is currently filming The Accountant 2, did not attend the premieres for Lopez's new movie Atlas in Los Angeles and Mexico City this week, but the couple have been spotted together otherwise as of late on multiple occasions, wearing their wedding rings.

While Lopez was in Mexico City to promote the film on May 22, one reporter interrupted proceedings to ask her a personal question instead of a professional one.

"Is your divorce with Ben Affleck real? These rumors?" the unidentified reporter interjected amid a room full of press. "What is the truth? Para le press le Mexicana [for the Mexican press], what is the truth of the situation?"

Lopez's costar Simu Liu immediately said, "Okay, we're not doing that." Lopez then leaned in and looked directly at the reporter, responding, "You know better than that."
