Bellingham neighborhood growth continues with this upcoming 72-unit apartment complex

New development continues in Bellingham’s Meridian neighborhood with a 72-unit, four-story apartment complex on its way.

The Waypointe project will be built at 325 E. Bellis Fair Parkway on about three acres of land.

The building will be L-shaped and will feature a primary entry oriented toward the corner of East Bellis Fair Parkway and Deemer Road. The property backs up to the First Christian Church and Spring Creek senior housing along East Bakerview Road.

The market-rate housing project will have 20 one-bedroom units, 28 two-bedroom units and 24 three-bedroom units, according to Bellingham-based AVT Consulting, the permit consultant company for the project.

It will have 126 parking stalls in surface parking and in an underground parking garage. The project will also feature a large bike storage facility in the garage and eight electric vehicle charging stations, as required by the development code, AVT’s Ali Taysi told The Herald in a telephone interview.

The housing project will also have a private amenity space with a sports court for pickleball and basketball, as well as a pet area. There will also be a lounge and a workout gym, with each level of the complex featuring some kind of interior community space.

Required public infrastructure will also be installed to support the project.

Street improvements on East Bellis Fair Parkway will include widening the road along the frontage of the property and adding accessible sidewalks.

The project permits are under review with construction expected to begin this summer. Construction is expected to last about 18 months with move-in expected by the end of 2024.
