David Serra, a junior at Ransom Everglades, won the District 8-2A boys’ cross-country title at Larry & Penny Thompson Park in Miami.

Covering the 3.1-mile course in 16 minutes 5 seconds, he also helped the Raiders win the team title with 39 points, besting a field of 12 teams.

Sophomore Gabriel Carr of runner-up Sunset was second of 110 runners at 18:01.12, followed by sophomore Ethan Sullivan of champion Ransom Everglades at 18:01.39.

The Belen Jesuit boys’ cross-country team won its 19th consecutive district championship, finishing first at the District 8-3A run at Larry & Penny Thompson Park in Miami.

The win marks the 41st district title for Belen Jesuit in school history. The Wolverines scored a perfect 15 points in a field of 17 teams.

Belen was led by 8th grader Marcelo Mantecon and junior Joshua Ruiz. Mantecon covered the 3.1-mile course in 16:06.36, followed closely by Ruiz at 16:06.83.

The Wolverines advance to regionals on Thursday also at South County Regional Park.
