Football rivalries are one thing. But what about a beer rivalry?

Sure, the Philadelphia Eagles claimed a 26-17 victory over the Cowboys in their home turf Sunday.

The sting of that defeat hadn’t even subsided and two Pennsylvania brands — Yuengling beer and Hershey’s chocolates — announced Monday that they were bringing their chocolate porter to Texas for the first time — just in time for Halloween.

Boo!

The seasonal brew will be available in Texas for a limited time.

“Last year’s expansion into Texas marked the first state for The Yuengling Company, which allowed us to increase our reach beyond our East Coast footprint,” said Jennifer Yuengling, Vice President of Operations, in a news release. “That is why today, we are thrilled to fuel this partnership by bringing the fall-fan-favorite Yuengling Hershey’s Chocolate Porter to Texas. We look forward to celebrating this exciting milestone and continuing to bring more of Yuengling’s iconic portfolio to all beer-lovers.”

Introduced in 2019, the chocolate porter combines Yuengling’s 193-year-old dark brewed porter recipe with flavors from Hershey’s chocolates. It is a blend of chocolate with caramel and dark roasted malts for a smooth, rich and delicious finish, according to Yuengling in a press release. It contains 4.7% alcohol by volume.

The brewing company also noted that their porter pairs well with barbecue and smoked meats — a tip of the hat to Texans’ dietary predilection.

Maybe there is a middle ground in this bitter NFC East rivalry after all. Cowboys and Eagles fans can share a toast to their teams’ success.
