Beautiful Marvel Masterpiece Art Gets Virgin Cover Treatment

Marvel has released a detailed look at the latest variant covers honouring the classic Marvel Masterpieces trading card set, first released in 1994.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of those cards, Marvel is reprinting virgin covers featuring the painterly artwork of acclaimed artists Greg and Tim Hildebrandt in all their glory.

A selection of the covers will be released in virgin format - meaning there is no clutter from titles, barcodes or other distractions - making them extremely valuable to the collecting community.

The covers will be available from January 2024 and released throughout next year, across a select number of books. The original run of Marvel Masterpieces Trading Cards featured 150 different cards with work from the two brothers.

Marvel has a collection of variant covers lined up for 2024, including covers to celebrate 50 years of Wolverine, a set of variant covers in honor of the 1997 animted X-Men cartoon, and these stunning Stormbreakers covers.

Rival publisher DC isn't missing out on the variant cover action either, dropping a bunch of saucy swimwear themed art across its titles, and celebrating Black History Month with these anime-inspired covers.
