Beacon 23 Trailer: Lena Headey Trusts No One in MGM+ Paranoid Space Thriller

In space, no one can hear you scream — and no one knows who to trust, either.

MGM+ has released the official trailer for Beacon 23, an eight-episode sci-fi thriller starring Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) and Stephan James (Homecoming). In the trailer — which you can watch above — Headey plays a government agent named Aster who crash-lands into a space station run by James’ character Halan. They’re cordial at first, but things turn frosty when Aster asks to see the station’s data, and Halan bluntly refuses. “He’s hiding something,” Aster decides, and when Halan brings up the concept of “we,” she fires back: “There is no ‘we,’ because I don’t trust you.”

But a hostile invasion forces them to work together, both to defend themselves and to unravel the mystery of how Aster ended up there. “Who are you?” Halan asks her directly… and her long silence speaks volumes.

“Aster mysteriously finds her way to the lonely Beacon-keeper Halan, and a tense battle of wills unfolds,” per the official description. “Halan begins to question whether Aster is friend or foe, as her ability to disguise her agenda and motives could make her a formidable opponent.”

Based on the bestselling novel by Hugh Howey, Beacon 23 is created by Zak Penn (Free GuyReady Player One), with Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead) joining Penn as an executive producer. Originally developed by Spectrum Originals, the series premieres Sunday, Nov. 12 at 9/8c on MGM+.
