BBC Studios have confirmed that brand-new episodes of Bluey are on the way, and soon.

The hit Australian children’s series, following a loveable Blue Heeler dog and her family, has announced that there will be 20 new ‘Bluey Minisodes’, involving Bluey and her little sister Bingo.

The first batch of short episodes, which are all between one and three minutes in length, will air on Australia in June, and they will become available on Disney Jr and Disney+ this July.

While there will be some new characters in the ‘Minisodes’, there will also be some fan-favourite characters such as Unicorse and Nana and Bob Heeler.

Some of the "funny and sweet moments" explored in the episodes include Dad getting a ‘tattoo’, and a behind-the-scenes look at Bluey and Bingo’s dreamhouse.

This will be great news for the millions of avid Bluey fans, following the emotional end of the third season last month.

‘The Sign’ marked the longest-ever episode of Bluey, and its global premiere broke records, gathering more than 10 million views worldwide on Disney+ in the week after its release.

This was followed by an unexpected extra episode – aptly titled ‘Surprise’ – which excited fans around the world when it was released.

Cecilia Persson, managing director of BBC Studios Kids & Family, said in a statement: "We know that fans loved ‘The Sign’ and were delighted when ‘Surprise’ landed so we are extremely happy to bring them even more Bluey.

"The Minisodes were created to dive deeper into the wonderful world and characters of Bluey, highlighting the cultural references and games that ignite joy amongst our fans. From Dad’s new robot to Unicorse’s no filter, we know fans will go wackadoo for this fantastic new content."

While fans have feared that season three might have marked the end of Bluey, last month the show’s producer Sam Moor answered "the question on everybody’s lips" and said: "No it is not the end for Bluey. I’m sure we have many more surprises in store for you.

"We have more in store, and we are thinking what would be next."
