The Batman 2 gets filming start date

The Batman Part II appears to have confirmed a filming start date.

The second outing for Robert Pattinson's Caped Crusader was confirmed last month, with the movie due to hit the big screen in October 2025.

It now looks like we know when cameras will start rolling, with executive producer Michael E Uslan revealing in a since-deleted Instagram post (via ComingSoon.net) that production will begin in November.

As well as Pattinson, the sequel will see the return of director Matt Reeves.

The film itself will form part of DC Elseworlds under new DC bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran's plans for the franchise.

A TV spin-off for Colin Farrell's Penguin is also in the works, with Reeves at the helm. Consisting of eight episodes, the show is set in the aftermath of 2022's The Batman and follows the villainous Penguin's rise in the Falcone crime family.

Following the announcement of their DC plans, Gunn addressed the backlash from some fans over the decisions he and Safran made.

"One of the things Peter & I were aware of when we took the job as heads of DC Studios was a certain minority of people online that could be, well, uproarious & unkind, to say the least," the director tweeted.

"Our choices for the DCU are based upon what we believe is best for the story & best for the DC characters who have been around for nearly 85 years.

"Perhaps these choices are great, perhaps not, but they are made with sincere hearts & integrity & always with the story in mind."

The Batman Part II will be released in cinemas on October 3, 2025. The Batman is available to buy now on 4K Blu-ray, standard Blu-ray and DVD.
