Miguel Cabrera – one of the more underrated players in baseball history – joined a prestigious list on Sunday.

Cabrera, 38, is playing in his 19th MLB season and 14th straight year with the Detroit Tigers. He continues to outproduce expectations. While Cabrera isn’t the same player he used to be, he still provides a big bat for the Tigers.

Sunday will go down as a special day in Cabrera’s illustrious career. In the top of the sixth of the Tigers-Blue Jays game, the 38-year-old slugger blasted a pitch out to right-center field for the 500th home run in his career. He’s the 28th player in professional baseball history to hit 500 home runs.

Congrats, Miguel!

Miguel Cabrera can add this to his long list of incredible career accomplishments, which includes being the two-time MVP and 11-time All-Star. The last player to reach 500 home runs was David Ortiz back in 2015.

Baseball fans have taken to Twitter to congratulate Miguel for his tremendous accomplishment.

“If Miguel Cabrera couldn’t hit his 500th HR at Comerica Park or close to home in Miami, he couldn’t get a better reception than he just received at Rogers Centre,” one fan said. “He got a curtain call and bowed to crowd in a show of thanks.”

Let’s not forget Cabrera is also just 45 hits away from reaching 3,000. He would become the seventh player in baseball history to have 3,000 hits and 500 home runs.

“Not to be lost in all of this. Miguel Cabrera is now 45 hits away from 3,000,” another fan said. “He will become the 7th player EVER to accomplish both feats and would be the first to do it in the same season if he gets it done this year”

It looks like more history could be on the way for Miguel Cabrera. We can’t wait.
