Baseball Roundup: Veach lifts Springfield past Rochester, and other results from Monday
Here are the local high school baseball results from The State Journal-Register's coverage area on Monday, May 6:

SPRINGFIELD HIGH 5, ROCHESTER 1: At Robin Roberts Stadium, Senators’ leadoff batter Enrico Veach was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple an RBI and two runs scored in a Central State Eight Conference win.
Veach was a home run shy of the cycle. Teammate Arthur Davison hit a two-run single for the Senators, who improved to 13-10 (overall, 7-2 CS8). Sam Hartl and Tyler Elliott had two hits apiece for Springfield High.
Seth Impson got the win with seven strikeouts in 5 2/3 scoreless innings. He allowed four hits and two walks. Veach pitched the final 1 1/3 with a pair of strikeouts.
Parker Gillespie led Rochester (14-10, 5-5) with a pair of hits.
PETERSBURG PORTA 2, CONCORD TRIOPIA 0: At Petersburg, Trace Donnan struck out five and scattered five hits as he threw 6 2/3 shutout innings in the Bluejays’ nonconference win.
Donnan walked just two batters and came out after 90 pitches.
Barrett Morse gave Donnan the win with his two-run RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning to snap a scoreless tie. Levi Hoagland reached on a one-out walk and Hunter Roberts singled to give the Bluejays a pair of runners. With two outs, Morse drove smacked his double to left field.
Roberts had a pair of hits for PORTA.

GILLESPIE 5, GREENVILLE 3 (10 innings): At Greenville, Bryce Buhs delivered an RBI double in the top of the 10th inning to snap a tie in the Miners’ South Central Conference victory.
With one out, Bryce Hohnsbehn reached on an error before Jesse Berry singled to left field. Buhs swung at an 0-1 pitch and sent a line drive to left field to score Hohnsbehn. Colin Griffith gave the Miners an insurance run one batter later with an infield single to plate Berry.
Griffith was 3-for-5 with a double while Berry, Jack Kaylor and Tristen Wargo all finished with two hits apiece.
Buhs and Wargo combined to go 10 innings. Buhs started the and struck out 10 over 5 2/3 innings. He allowed three runs — one earned — on three hits and two walks. Wargo, who took the win, struck out four over 4 1/3 scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and two walks.
Rowdy Sussenbach led Greenville with three hits, including a double, and three RBIs.
The Miners improved to 22-7 (overall) and finished 8-1 in the SCC. Greenville fell to 15-14-1 and 5-4.
PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 3, NORTH MAC 1: At Virden, Collin Etter came through with a fifth-inning RBI single but the Panthers couldn’t generate more runs in a South Central Conference loss.
Aiden Hatalla, Quinn Morrow and Etter each had a pair of hits for North Mac (9-10 overall, 4-4 SCC).
Camden Earley gave up one earned runs and eight hits with three walks in 6 1/3 innings pitched for the Panthers. The Piasa Birds scored two unearned runs on three North Mac errors.
Southwestern clinched an undefeated record in the SCC and improved to 24-6 (9-0).
Marcus Payne singled and drove in two runs for the Birds.
WILLIAMSVILLE 17, MASON CITY ILLINI CENTRAL 0 (4 innings): At Mason City, Kyle Heubner and Dalton Root combined to pitch a four-inning perfect game in the Bullets’ Sangamo Conference win.
Heubner, who also hit a home run, struck out five in three innings while Root fanned one in relief.
Ryan Mendenhall helped lead Williamsville’s production at the plate by going 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, three RBIs and two runs scored.
Joe Catalano finished with a pair of doubles and drove in a pair for the Bullets.
ATHENS 12, LANPHIER 0 (5 innings): At Athens, Cody Tobias struck out nine in a complete-game no-hit performance as the Warriors dominated a nonconference home meeting.
Tobias was two walks shy of a perfect game.
Athens’ Carson Moscardelli went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored while teammate Kenneth Baker was 2-for-2 with a walk, two RBIs and two runs scored. Carson Reichert also went 2-for-2 and he drove in one and scored twice.
MOUNT PULASKI 10, BUFFALO TRI-CITY 0 (6 innings): At Mount Pulaski, Eric Cooper struck out nine and allowed two hits and one walk in a complete-game shutout as the Hilltoppers beat the Tornadoes in a nonconference tilt.
Cooper also hit a sacrifice fly.
Chance Payne homered and drove in two runs while Luke Martin lifted a sac fly, singled and knocked in a pair of runs for the Hilltoppers.
Mount Pulaski won despite just three hits. Tri-City committed three errors and the Hilltoppers drew eight walks.
LINCOLN 10, RANTOUL 0 (6 innings): At Lincoln, Jarrett Evers singled, hit a sacrifice fly and finished with three RBIs to help the Railsplitters secure a nonconference win.
Trey Schilling and Michael Lucas each provided the Railers with two doubles each. Lucas was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs while Schilling was 3-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored.
Lincoln pitcher Parker Graue struck out two in the four-hit, complete-game shutout. He allowed one walk.
TAYLORVILLE 7, DECATUR MACARTHUR 2: At Decatur, Clark Durbin drove in three runs to help Colton Gatton get the win in a nonconference game.
Durbin had an RBI single and a two-run sacrifice fly. Isaac Repscher and Jacob McWard each had two hits and two RBIs for the Tornadoes.
Gatton went all seven innings and struck out nine. He gave up two unearned runs on four hits and two walks.
Taylorville stole five bases on the Generals.
JACKSONVILLE 7, PITTSFIELD 1: At Jacksonville, Anderson Decker went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs scored from the Crimsons’ leadoff spot in a nonconference win.
Decker, Joe Reif and Brandon Sims all doubled for Jacksonville. Decker also had three stolen bases.
Cody Fry got the win with nine strikeouts in six shutout innings. He allowed five hits and six walks, but the Crimsons’ defense stranded them all.
Sims and Jacob Henry each finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
JACKSONVILLE ROUTT 11, MOUNT STERLING BROWN COUNTY 1 (5 innings): At Jacksonville, Eli Olson doubled and tripled and drove in a pair of runs in the Rockets’ home victory.
Nolan Turner and Brady Turner doubled for Routt while Isaac Long added a triple.
A.J. Charpentier struck out seven and allowed two hits and one unearned run in a complete-game win.

BUNKER HILL 8, RAYMOND LINCOLNWOOD 7: At Raymond, Mason Tryon, Donny Daugherty, Jonah Elvidge and Brody Lush all had two hits each in the Lancers’ nonconference loss.
Tryon was 2-for-5 with two RBIs while Elvidge, Lush and Daugherty had one RBI apiece.
Ethan Heiens stole home to score the go-ahead run with two outs in the top of the seventh for the Minutemen.
HAVANA 3, MANITO MIDWEST CENTRAL 2: At Havana, Owen Smith stole home in the bottom of the sixth for the go-ahead run as the Ducks swiped a win.
With two outs, Alec McGrew singled to center field before he was lifted for Smith as the pinch runner. Smith went to second on a based ball before Bradyn Willing reached on an error as Smith took third. On an 0-1 count, Willing stole second and Smith scampered home for the eventual game-winning tally.
McGwire Martindale went 2-for-2 with an RBI and run scored for the Ducks while Jaron Boggs doubled and drove in a run.
Thurston Sisson got the win for the Ducks. He struck out 12 in a complete game. He allowed two runs — one earned — on four hits and one walk.
O’FALLON 5, SACRED HEART-GRIFFIN 3: At SHG’s Comstock Field, Jake Kepler hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning in the Cyclones’ nonconference loss.
Gage Luttrell went 2-for-2 with a double and Will Lande drove in a pair of runs for SHG.
NORMAL U-HIGH 11, PLEASANT PLAINS 1: At Pleasant Plains, Drew Green had one of the Cardinals’ four hits and their only RBI in a nonconference loss.
GLEN CARBON FATHER MCGIVNEY 10, NOKOMIS 0 (6 innings): At Glen Carbon, Drake Taylor had Nokomis’ lone hit to prevent the no-hitter in a nonconference loss.
