New bars, restaurants opening in Milwaukee in March include Landmark 1850 and new Bay View sushi spot

A few new bars and restaurants are planning to open in March in Milwaukee.

That includes Milwaukee's oldest bar resuming business, a new Bay View sushi spot and a West View fast casual dining spot.

In order of opening date, here are three new bars and restaurants opening in March in Milwaukee.

Room Service

2159 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., March 15

Room Service is the newest tenant at the $2.5 million restaurant development project in Bay View across from Zillman Park.

The new restaurant will serve sushi and have a full bar, rooftop patio and ground-floor patio. It will offer carryout and delivery, as well as dine-in service.

Todd I Believe I Can Fry was the first tenant in the new space, which opened in January and serves Korean-style fried chicken.

Landmark 1850 Inn

5905 S. Howell Ave., last week of March

By the end of March, Landmark 1850 Inn plans to reopen under new ownership, keeping up the tradition of the space that has been a bar or restaurant for more than 170 years.

The bar and restaurant most recently served people near the Milwaukee's airport under Joseph Halser III, who owned and operated Landmark 1850 Inn for 40 years, until he died in April 2022.

A former employee, Linda Garcia, is now taking over and plans to reopen the bar at the end of the month.

Garcia plans to have drinks or plates named after important historical events or figures related to Landmark 1850 Inn. She also plans to incorporate a wall that will include signatures of famous people who come by in the future.

"When people ask, 'Where should I go?' and people say the Harley Museum, Art Museum, the Safe House, my dream is for other people to say, 'You have to go to the Landmark, it's the oldest bar in Milwaukee,'" she said.

Garcia plans to have a soft opening by the end of the month.

Mo's Chicken Shack

3135 S. 92nd St., March 28

A new fast-casual restaurant plans to open in the former Good Soup spot on Milwaukee's southwest side.

Owner Monique Britton plans to open the restaurant serving chicken, burgers, fish, and desserts like peach cobbler and chocolate cake.

She hopes to open the new spot by the end of the month.
