Barbie's America Ferrera lines up major new TV series
Barbie star America Ferrera has landed her next TV role in series adaptation Naked by the Window.
Following a bidding war, Amazon MGM Studios have acquired the anticipated series, which is based on Robert Katz's book of the same name (via Deadline).
Published in 1990, the book tells the true story of groundbreaking Cuban artist Ana Mendieta and her lasting impact on the New York art scene, following her tragic death.

"In 1985, the charming, Cuban-born 36-year-old sculptor Ana Mendieta plunged to her death from the 34th-story Greenwich Village apartment she shared with her husband, the well-known and high regarded artist Carl Andre," reads the book's official synopsis.
"The mystery of Ana's death and its circumstances has never been resolved — until now."
As well as starring in the series, Ferrera is also set to executive produce. Encanto co-writer Charise Castro Smith will write and executive produce the show, with Plan B also on board to executive produce.
The now Oscar-nominated actress has also recently landed her next movie role alongside Matthew McConaughey in upcoming blockbuster The Lost Bus. The film will follow a school teacher and bus driver, who lead a school bus full of students through a fire to safety.

Ferrera has a very busy year ahead, as she is also set to direct an adaptation of Erika Sánchez's novel I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter.
"Years ago, I fell in love with Erika L Sánchez's stunning novel," Ferrera said of the project. "The depth, wit and searing intelligence of her writing, and her young Latina heroine, struck me to my core and left me wanting so much more.
"I am truly honoured and humbled to direct Linda Yvette Chávez's beautifully adapted screenplay. The opportunity to direct the work of these two incredibly talented Latina writers is a dream come true."
