Barbie director Greta Gerwig and husband Noah Baumbach welcome baby

On top of directing one of the year's most eagerly-anticipated films, Barbie director Greta Gerwig also welcomed her second child with husband Noah Baumbach.

The Little Women filmmaker revealed she gave birth to their new addition, a son, in February, the younger sibling of their first child Harold, 4. Noah also has a 13-year-old son, Rohmer, whom he shares with his ex-wife Jennifer Jason Lee.

Greta announced their bundle of joy during a profile piece with Elle, sharing a photo of their four-month checkup: "He's a little Schmoo. I don't know if you can tell energy from the picture, but that's very much his energy."

"The little guy is sleeping through the night. But I'm still doing that thing where I wake up, every hour to 90 minutes, and just hover. You just keep wanting to look at that baby. So I'm slightly in a twilight state."

The Oscar-nominated writer and director announced she was expecting her second child in December 2022 during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Greta also recently opened up on directing Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling-starring Barbie, and how she did not want to ignore the Mattel doll's controversial history.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, she said: "I think the thing we wanted to do was not deny how complicated she is and how there are so many things about her that are amazing and also like: 'Oh, I wish you hadn't done that'. I think that's what made it rich was being able to be in all the thorniness and not denying it."
