Baker Mayfield Shares Honest Admission On Loss To Chiefs
On Sunday afternoon, the Cleveland Browns gave the Kansas City Chiefs everything they could handle.
Baker Mayfield and company came out firing and actually held a 29-20 lead in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, the Chiefs offensive firepower was too much for the Browns to withstand.
A late interception from Mayfield in the fourth quarter doomed Cleveland’s hopes of pulling off the upset. A few days after the 33-29 loss, Mayfield said the Browns should beat themselves up about the loss.
“I think there’s a fine line of walking, you know, beating yourself up about it and then realizing there’s 16 more. And I think we should beat ourselves up about it because we feel like we should have won that game, but there’s 16 more,” Mayfield said, via Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan.
Mayfield doubled down, saying the loss should sting for a while because the team was so close to a win.
“This one should sting and you need to learn from it because we had that game and we gotta close it out. So I think there’s a fine line of walking that and my message to them was, you know what? We’re going to be really good if we just do our jobs and continue to be efficient and move the chains and help out our defense by staying on the field.
Cleveland’s first win of the season should come this weekend against the Houston Texans.
