Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield has been the subject of trade rumors for the past few hours.

Earlier Tuesday afternoon, reports emerged saying the Browns brass met with Deshaun Watson in Houston. While Cleveland works on a potential trade for Watson, rumors of a Mayfield trade have grown louder.

It appears Mayfield has heard the rumors. On Tuesday night, the former No. 1 overall pick took to Twitter in a lengthy message where he thanked Browns fans for their support over the years.

“The past 4 years have been nothing short of truly life changing since I heard my name called in the draft to go to Cleveland,” Mayfield said. “This is not a message with hidden meaning. This is strictly to thank the city of Cleveland for embracing my family and me.”

Fans weren’t exactly sure how to take the news. Some believe the Browns will be trading for Watson imminently, while others are just laughing at how badly the team botched its quarterback situation.

“How bizarre. This whole situation is needlessly messy and embarrassing to all involved. And it’s not ending anytime soon,” one fan said.

“So… Baker is outta there,” Fox Sports host Nick Wright said.
