Bag full of ammunition found in central Paris; Arc de Triomphe area evacuated
The area around the Arc de Triomphe in central Paris has been evacuated by police, following a bomb alert Tuesday afternoon.
Four subway lines around the area were interrupted, “at the request of the police,” the Paris Métro said in a tweet.
A journalist with France’s BFMTV said in a tweet that people in the area found a bag full of ammunition just after 3 p.m. and called police.
Investigators “were able to establish that it is operational ammunition and of different calibers,” he wrote.
