BAFTA hosts Richard E Grant and Alison Hammond get a positive reaction from viewers
BAFTA hosts Richard E Grant and Alison Hammond have received a positive reaction from viewers during this year's award ceremony.
Grant opened the show in typical glamorous fashion, wearing an all-white cape, white suit jacket and black trousers. He was joined by Hollywood legend Steve Martin in the opening video, with Martin giving him tips on how to host the ceremony.

In his opening monologue – in front of an audience including Everything Everywhere All At Once stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Michelle Yeoh, Elvis director Baz Luhrman and royal guests Prince William and Kate Middleton – Grant showcased various accents (including Cockney gangster and French), in an effort to show he's suitable for more acting jobs, as well as making a jibe at Daniel Day Lewis' retirement from acting.
Viewers took to Twitter to share how much they enjoyed Grant's appearance, saying:
I love Richard E grant already 😂😂😂 #BaftaAwards

One of the many things I love about Richard E. Grant is he is so gorgeously himself. I can't fake who I am and I cannot stand pretension. It's great to see someone keeping it real.
