Bad Bunny Looks Like a Stylish Matador at the 2024 Met Gala

Bad Bunny is in the house.
The “Me Porto Bonito” singer—born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio—brought his maximalist style to the 2024 Met Gala, looking like a luxe matador on the famed carpeted steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The ensemble consisted of a navy jacket and matching trousers with red details on the inside of the leg and what looked like seam measurements in white—all custom Maison Margiela Artesanal Couture. He finished the look with black tabis embellished with some fur, black leather gloves, diamond-shaped shades, and the most fabulous bullfighter-meets-jester hat.
Bunny added some extra shimmer with two large diamond studs and carried a black bouquet of faux flowers.
The theme of the night is “The Garden of Time,” based on the art museum’s new exhibition “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”
This is far from Bad Bunny’s first rodeo. The Puerto Rican reggaetón star made a jaw-dropping appearance at last year’s gala in a romantic look we still cannot get out of our heads. The ensemble was an all-white tweed suit from Jacquemus featuring a daring open back and a dramatic 26-foot-long rosette cape. The superstar wore his hair slicked back with the elegant ensemble and accessorized with pearl stud earrings and a silver chain necklace.
The stunning look came one year after Benito made his Met Gala debut in a custom Burberry boilersuit with poofy shoulders. He wore the unique piece over a white dress shirt and a black tie, and paired it with white bolero shoes. But the most interesting part of the look was his hair, which was pinned up in a voluminous bouffant accented with gold floral hair clips.
The musician talked about his experimental sense of fashion in an interview for Harper’s Bazaar’s September 2022 cover story. “I’m taking advantage of this moment in my life when I can do whatever I want and wear what I want, so I get to live life more authentically,” he said. “I don’t do it to become more famous or to call attention or to disrespect anyone. People on the outside can think that I have a strategy or I wear this to call for attention, but in reality I just know who I am.”
