  • Zach Shallcross, 26, is the new leading man on the 27th season of The Bachelor.

  • The tech exec from California was one of Rachel Recchia's final three men on Season 19 of The Bachelorette.

  • The new season premieres in January 23 on ABC.

Zach Shallcross is the next tall, handsome leading man to take over the franchise as the Bachelor. During The Bachelorette season 19, Zach made it to Rachel Recchia's finale three before their awkward break-up, and now, he’s back to continue his televised search for love.

ICYMI, Zach self-eliminated from The Bachelorette after spending a night with Rachel in the Fantasy Suite. Apparently, once the couple said goodbye to the cameras, their dynamic flipped, and Zach ultimately sent himself home.

But now he's getting the second chance at love that Bach Nation knows he deserves. Fans have been super patient since filming days back in September of 2022 but with the premiere just days away, it's only fair to want to brush up on all the facts about him.

Here's everything there is to know about the new Bachelor of the 27th season now that the premiere is finally here.

Zach works as a technology executive in Austin, Texas.

Zach is a Senior Cloud Technology Sales Executive at Oracle in Austin, Texas, according to his LinkedIn. He has held the role for just over three years.

Before that, his profile says he worked as a supervisor at the California Mid-State Fair, and as a sales operations assistant at the Gavel Group.

Apparently, Zach has another career in mind these days: football commentator. “That’s like the dream job,” he told The New York Post. “I would love to, if I get an opportunity. I’d give it a shot.”

Zach is 26 years old.

His age posed some difficulty while vying for Rachel's heart on The Bachelorette.

“Rachel brought up her fear that, maybe, I’m not ready for a commitment like marriage at this early of an age," he told host Jesse Palmer during a Fantasy Suite episode.

But don't worry ladies, Zach is more than ready to take his relationships seriously and is looking for that special someone. "I was like, ‘Don't worry about that. I'm here for you,’" Zach said about the age concerns.

Twitter also has some thoughts on the matter. "Zach is young which equals young contestants," TheBachBabes wrote in a post. "There’s potential to cast a lot of crazy 22/23 year olds similar to Peter’s season."

You know what that means...drama, drama, drama.

Zach self-eliminated from 'Bachelorette' Rachel's final three.

On the September 13 episode of The Bachelorette, Zach stopped the rose ceremony to pull Rachel aside. After his absolute disaster Fantasy Suite date, he self-eliminated before she had a chance to cut him loose.

Cameras didn't capture exactly what went down during their overnight date, but apparently she expressed concerns that he was too young to commit to marriage, per EW. In turn, he claimed in a confessional that she was "putting on a front" with him.

During the After the Final Rose special, Zach and Rachel came face-to-face to do a relationship post-mortem. The Bachelorette accepted his apology how abruptly he ended things, and then Zach was announced as the new Bachelor.

He's from Anaheim Hills, California.

Before moving to Texas, Zach grew up in Anaheim Hills, California with his parents and two sisters.

Zach has been described by ABC as a family man at heart who splits his time between Texas and his home state of California, per Deadline. Sounds like the makings of the perfect Bachelor!

Oh, and he's really close with his family.

Zach's Instagram is filled with photos of him and his family, which TBH is just about the sweetest thing.

He proves he's got a great sense of humor in this one...

And is a great big brother to his two sisters in this one.

His parents have been married for over 30 years, and Zach hopes to “find a love that echoes the standard they have set for him,” ABC wrote and Deadline reported. Zach plans to keep his parents and family in mind when looking for his life partner.

His uncle is actor Patrick Warburton.

When he took Rachel to California to meet his family during hometown dates, Zach revealed that he has a famous family member.

Patrick Warburton, the 57-year-old Family Guy and Seinfeld actor, is actually Zach's uncle, according to Us Weekly.

He's a mama's boy.

According to his ABC bio, "Zach is an old-fashioned romantic. He loves his mama, his dogs and football but promises he has more love to go around!"

First of all, aw. Second of all, you gotta love the mom shout-out, which he echoes on his Instagram with multiple, loving birthday posts for her.

"Way too blessed to call you momma! Love you and enjoy your day, you deserve the best!" he wrote in the caption. I could cry.

Zach was a Division I football player in college.

He attended California Polytechnic State University from 2014 to 2019 where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, per LinkedIn.

While in college, he played Division I football, according to his Instagram.

His football roster profile revealed that he has a passion for music and used to mix and produce under a pseudonym. However, when not on the football field, you can find Zach playing beach volleyball, which is listed as a fun fact in his ABC bio.

He says he's descended from Abraham Lincoln.

Erm, yup. At least according to his old football roster page. Nothing else to add here.

Zach is looking for someone to spend forever with.

After striking out with Rachel last season, Zach is eager to find his special someone. "Zach is serious about finding a love that will lead to marriage," according to his ABC bio. "Whatever grand romantic gesture it takes for him to get there, he's ready to go!"

Zach previously described his perfect woman as "compassionate, kind, and ready for romance because [he's] excited to lay it on thick," his ABC bio reads.

But he recently shared that his idea of the perfect wife changed almost daily during filming and advice from Bachelor alum Sean Lowe kept him open-minded throughout the process. "You might have this one idea of who you're going to end up with or this is how things should go, and [you] quickly learn that that's not the way that life goes necessarily," he explained to People.

He doesn't mess around with the "L" word.

In previous seasons of The Bachelor, professions of love are common and often end in heartbreak (just keeping it real!). But viewers won't be hearing much of that for Zach.

“Saying ‘I love you’ carries a different weight to it,” he told People. “For me, there is only one real love, the one that you want to spend your life with. You can have feelings of love for multiple people, but to me, there can only be that one true love at the end.”

He's not here for the drama.

I know it's hard to believe that there may be less drama in this season compared to others, but Zach has gone on the record to let fans know that while there will definitely still be drama, he showed up to find love.

"It might not be the most dramatic season, but it's the most emotional season that they've ever had," he said to People. "But that's not to say that this season will not have some drama. There's no shortage of drama."

Days later, he elaborated on his feelings about the antics that frequently occur on the show. “I would tell the critics and the fans, if you wanna watch something or this show and actually see love and no bulls—t and not a scene or not an act, then I think you’re really gonna love this [season],” he told Us Weekly. “If you are someone that wants the unnecessary dumb drama — alright, [but] I might not be your guy. Plain and simple.”

He's happy with his experience.

Fans can take a big exhale, because according to Zach, he had a great experience and seems to be happy with the way things went down. "It's been better than I could have ever expected it, and I'm just so happy with all of it," he told People.

I guess fans will just have to tune in on January 23 to see what he's talking about. Until then, prepare for more updates.
