Y’all get ready for a new read from one of Bachelor Nation’s favorite leading ladies, Hannah Brown. Her first book, God Bless This Mess, a memoir released in 2021, gave readers a glimpse inside the Alabama native’s upbringing, and of course spilled juicy details about her time on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. It’s only been a few years since the non-fiction book came out. But now, she’s got more for us, and this time it’s a whole new story.

Mistakes We Never Made is Brown’s first novel. It’s a romance with an enemies-to-lovers trope and is inspired by some of Brown’s favorite rom-coms, plus her own life.

“It’s really fun, it's a fast-paced book, steamy, and hot,” Brown explained to us. “But it’s important for me that the character development is really strong. When I’m reading a book, I get really lost in it, so I really want the reader to connect with Emma.”

The story follows Emma and Finn, two lifelong rivals who found themselves in a situationship and almost fell in love years ago. Flash forward to present day, and the two are forced back together for a mutual friend’s destination wedding. When the bride goes missing, Emma and the rest of the bridesmaids have to figure out how to get their bestie back in time to walk down the aisle. Emma and Finn are tasked with finding her and end up on a whirlwind road trip down memory lane... and sparks might just begin to fly again.

But it’s not all about romance. The book also includes a group of besties known as “The Core Four.” Hannah said, “There’s all different types of love in life and I think one of the most beautiful types of love you have is friendship. That’s a big part of the book as well.”

The book comes out May 7th and is available for pre-order on Amazon. After checking out the book’s page on Goodreads, positive reviews are already rolling in from those who received Advanced Reader Copies.

“This is a fun and flirty summer romance. If you were a fan of Emily Henry’s People We Meet on Vacation and Jessica Joyce’s You with a View and authors like Ava Wilder and Kate Spencer, you are going to eat this one up,” wrote one reviewer.

And if you have hesitations, check out what this reader said:

“I figured at best this would be a cute story, the end. I’ve got to say, I was blown away and will be reading all future novels by Hannah Brown! Speaking of which, I hope we get a sequel to this story 🤞”

Although most people know her from TV, Hannah says she’s excited to show more of her creative side through writing. “People know me for being on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. People came to know me on their screens.”

While we saw her tackle The Bachelor Franchise, (throwback to the iconic podium scene with Luke P.) and win DWTS and Special Forces, why not add author to the resume?

“A farfetched idea I’ve had forever was to be able to write some type of novel. I remember talking to my mom about that in high school. So, it’s really cool that I’ve been able to have the team and the opportunity to bring this to fruition. It was a great way to get my creative juices flowing.”

When she’s not nose-deep in a book, she mentioned she’s been watching the latest season of The Bachelor with fan-favorite, Joey Graziadei.

“I’ve definitely been watching!” she laughed. “It’s been such an interesting and fun season.”

Although Hannah said her handsome new fiancé, Adam Woolard, has never watched Hannah’s episodes of the show, they’ve been enjoying the new season together. And when they watch, she’s always rooting for the star of the show.

“It’s such a hard position to be in. I’m always supportive of the leads, the bachelor and bachelorette, because it’s really tough. I feel like he’s [Joey] doing a really great job and being really authentic.”

While we bonded over all things Bachelor for a while, we also bonded over our love for McAlister’s Deli. We love a relatable queen.

“After any type of game or dance practice we were always at McAlister’s Deli. I’m an avid reader so it’s really exciting to be able to partner with McAlister’s during the month of March because it’s National Reading Month!”

Brown is teaming up with the restaurant for a special Choose 2 Menu. The combinations are inspired by Hannah’s favorite book genres – Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, and Romance.

“I love the Jalapeño Turkey Crunch Sandwich and the Spud Max. That’s my favorite! I used to always put potato chips on my sandwich, but now McAlister’s does it for me.”

For the month of March, you can pick from all the different combinations on the “Book Club” menu. Hannah’s fave combo, mentioned above, is the “Adventure” meal. I personally go for the Savannah Chopped Salad and Chicken Tortilla Soup, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw it was a “Book Club” -approved meal under the “Comedy” genre.

“I’ve grown up eating McAlister’s.” Hannah said, “They have great food and I love going somewhere I know everyone is going to enjoy it.”

And if you’re a McAlister’s Rewards Member, you’re invited to tell the business about your reading rituals and enter for the chance to win $500 to host your next Book Club event at McAlister’s Deli!

Might we suggest Mistakes We Never Made as the book club pick?
