When you’re away, there soon will be a new place in Okatie to send your pet on vacation

People needing pet care while on vacation will have the option to send their furry family members on their own vacation in “paradise” starting early next year.

A pet boarding facility, called Pet Paradise, is under construction at 139 Okatie Blvd. North, in Okatie, next to Starbucks. The new location is planned to open sometime in January or February, according to Emily Parry, marketing and communications manager for the Jacksonville, Florida-based company.

The chain has 50 locations in 11 states and offers boarding for cats and dogs as well as a doggie day camp, dog training and grooming. This will be the third location in South Carolina, with shops in Greenville and Ballantyne already in operation.

During their stay and depending on what services are purchased, pets will have access to amenities like self refilling water bowls, toys, jungle gyms, slides, misting fans and a pet pool. Pets staying overnight will have access to private air conditioned suites. A veterinarian clinic will also be on site.

Dogs staying at camp are split into three groups based on their size and activity level. Some locations offer “Tiny Town,” a boarding and play space exclusively for dogs under 30 pounds.

Owners missing their pets while away will even have access to live web cams of the dogs’ play area. The web cams can be found on Pet Paradise’s website.

The planned 15,000-square-feet facility will have capacity for 175 pets and will begin taking reservation around six months before opening, Parry said.

Boarding rates start at $54 per night for dogs and $37 per night for cats at the Greenville location. Adding day camp to a dog’s stay cost an additional $32. Those looking for something more luxurious for their furry friends can upgrade to a VIP suite, which starts at $106 per night.

Pricing varies by location and a 2024 pricing model has not been established, the company said in a press release, and prices are subject to change.

Grooming prices range from $30 for a simple bath and dry to $65 for a complete grooming. Prices vary depending on dog size, coat condition and coat length.

NewDay Veterinary Care will be available on site as well. Besides standard care, NewDay provides vaccines for dogs and cats, and exams are available for pets staying during day camp or overnight.
