Austin police investigating body found on banks of Lady Bird Lake in downtown

A body was recovered from the banks of Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin in an incident classified as a cardiac episode, according to Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services.

Law enforcement officials received a 911 call at approximately 11:30 a.m. Tuesday reporting a body between a path and Lady Bird Lake, near the Lamar Street Bridge, a statement from the Austin Police Department said. No resuscitative efforts were attempted, and the person was declared dead at the scene. EMS cleared the scene by 12:35 p.m., Capt. Darren Noak said.

He said there was no indication the body had been in the lake or was pulled from the lake, and he could not provide the individual's gender or age.

Detectives and crime scene specialists processed the scene and are investigating the death.
