With low temperatures expected a cross Central Texas on Tuesday, some area school districts have announced campus closures.

As freezing temperatures envelop Central Texas on Monday, some local schools began to announce closures and delays for Tuesday classes.

Meteorologists expect low temperatures in the mid-teens both Tuesday and Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The agency has issued a wind chill warning for the area through 9 a.m. Tuesday and a hard freeze warning through 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Colleges and universities

  • Austin Community College district: Expects to open on its regular schedule on Tuesday for the first day of spring classes. In a statement, officials said they will monitor conditions and are prepared to make adjustments as needed. "Any possible delay or cancellation ... will be shared through ACC's Emergency Alert system, posted to our website, and shared with media," the district said.

  • Huston-Tillotson University: Classes and campus operations will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

  • University of Texas: The university will operate on a normal schedule, but will provide some flexibility for people impacted by closures or late starts for area institutions.

School district closures, delays

  • Austin school district: All classes, buses and offices will have a two-hour delayed start on Tuesday.

  • Bastrop: School district campuses closed on Tuesday.

  • Del Valle: All school district campuses and offices will be closed on Tuesday "due to the extremely cold temperatures and “lake effect” snow covering sidewalks, access areas and roadways at multiple DVISD campuses," the district announced in a statement.

  • Dripping Springs: All school start and bus pickup times will run on a two-hour delay Tuesday. Elementary schools will begin at 9:45 a.m. and secondary schools will begin at 11 a.m.

  • Eanes: All classes will start two hours late Tuesday.

  • Elgin: All school district campuses will be closed Tuesday.

  • Georgetown: School classes and transportation will begin on a two-hour delay Tuesday.

  • Hays: Closed Tuesday; after-school activities may resume but parents should check with the coach or activity sponsor.

  • Hutto: Campuses and buses will run on a two-hour delay Tuesday.

  • Lake Travis: All school campuses, buses and facilities will start two hours late Tuesday. Elementary schools will begin classes at 9:40 a.m. Middle and high school campuses will begin at 10:50 a.m.

  • Leander: All classes will start on a two-hour delay Tuesday.

  • Manor: All classes, buses and district offices will start on a two-hour delay Tuesday.

  • Marble Falls: Classes will resume as normal Tuesday.

  • Pflugerville: Classes will begin two hours late Tuesday.

  • Round Rock: All classes will begin two hours late Tuesday.

  • San Marcos: All district campuses and offices closed on Tuesday.

  • Smithville: All district classes closed on Tuesday.
