Baldinos is coming to Columbia County.

The Georgia-based sandwich chain that temporarily closed its location at 3328 Wrightsboro Rd. in June 2023 is reopening in a newly constructed commercial plaza at 110 Davis Rd. in Martinez.

Bids to help build out the restaurant space will be accepted through April 24. The plan holder is S.D. Clifton Construction of Martinez.

The former Baldinos location was put up for sale in 2023 for an asking price of $1.79 million. Touchdown Wings, an Atlanta-based restaurant chain, announced in July 2023 that it was establishing a location at the Wrightsboro address and that it was “coming soon.”

The Davis Road property had been the home of Green Thumb West Nursery and Garden Center since 1978. David and Donna Bokesch, the owners who bought the business in 2005, decided in 2016 to close. The nursery building has since been torn down.

Begun in 1975, Baldinos has 17 locations throughout Georgia, about half in and around Savannah. Its other Augusta-area location is at 2760 Tobacco Rd. in Hephzibah.
