The $125,000 donation to the nonprofit includes gifts to seven local CIS affiliates in Texas. CIS impacts the lives of the most vulnerable public school students, helping them overcome challenges to succeed in school and reach their potential.

The partnership with Atmos extends the nonprofit's work in Texas, enabling the organization to meet students' basic needs, support them with a caring adult and keep them on track for academic achievement.

“Students attend school every day without their basic needs met like food or clean clothes," Adam Powell, president of the CIS of Texas Board, said in a media release. "They are expected to perform and learn but haven’t slept or eaten."

Support from Atmos Energy makes it possible for the nonprofit to provide these essentials, Powell said.
