An assistant principal at Hillside High School in Durham has been charged with attempted rape, arrest warrants show.

Louis Ray Harrison, 48, of Apex was charged with attempted second-degree forcible rape and felony breaking and entering with intent to terrorize or injure, according to arrest warrants. He was arrested on Wednesday, according to WRAL, who first reported the arrest.

Harrison posted a $150,000 bail on Wednesday, court documents show. He was arrested earlier that morning by Durham police.

The alleged crimes he’s accused of occurred on March 21, the warrants state.

Harrison is accused of willfully detaining and restraining a Durham woman in her bedroom, locking the door and preventing her from leaving, according to a grand jury indictment.

He is scheduled to appear in Durham County court on June 26.

Durham Public Schools told ABC11, The News & Observer’s newsgathering partner, that Harrison was suspended with pay on March 22 — the day after the alleged crime took place.

Harrison remained off campus during the suspension, and he submitted his resignation effective June 30.
