Asian Fusion Cuisines is now open in downtown Green Bay. Here's what to expect | Streetwise

GREEN BAY − Ready to try a different kind of Asian food? A new restaurant in downtown will indulge you.

Asian Fusion Cuisines is open at 213 N. Washington St., the location of the now-closed China Palace in downtown Green Bay. Asian Fusion Cuisines is offering unique southeast Asian dishes from countries like Laos, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.

Ying Vang and Savannah Xiong, the couple who own the restaurant, said they are excited to bring a new type of Asian food to the area.

"We want people to come and try it and see how they like it," Vang said.

Vang was born in Thailand, but moved to the United States when he was very young and was raised here. Xiong is from Laos, and moved to the Green Bay area almost nine years ago. They leased the former China Palace spot and bought tables, chairs, décor and kitchen equipment from the previous owner, James Feng.

Vang said the dishes from southeast Asia are very similar to other Asian foods, but each country has its own way of preparation and adds different ingredients.

"That's why we call it 'fusion,' everybody has same dishes, different spin off," he said.

The menu includes noodle soup, mostly known as pho, with shrimp, chicken, pork, crab, meatballs or meat loaf and MAMA papaya salad, which is similar but has different vegetables and seasonings. There is also Pad Thai with shrimp, chicken or pork, eggs, bean sprouts, peanuts and other ingredients. For drinks, the menu offers water, sodas, lemonade, hot tea and iced Thai tea as well as Thai iced coffee.

Xiong said they would like to get feedback from customers because they will start with a simple menu.

"We will add more dishes to the menu later," she said.

Asian Fusion Cuisines is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day. For more information, visit the restaurant's Facebook page.
