ASHWAUBENON − Now you can try authentic fish and seafood recipes from Turkey at this new restaurant.

Istanbul Fish & Seafood Restaurant opened last week at 940 Hansen Road, the former site of Tajin Mexican Grill. Co-owners of the new eatery, Fatih Okcu and his cousin Şahim Morkoc, said they are excited to share their culture with Green Bay customers. In Istanbul, Okcu's family owns several restaurants, and he has over 10 years of experience in the food industry.

"Everything we make is fresh and authentic," Okcu said.

The menu has hot and cold appetizers that include calamari, octopus, shrimp and fish made with original recipes. There are also salads, soups and several desserts.

Okcu said they offer a fixed menu for customers who want to try different dishes to have the option of trying up to 12 dishes for a fixed price.

"Usually one person tries four dishes," he said. "But if you come with company or a family, you can try all."

One fixed menu offered is the "family menu" which includes four appetizers with salads, four main fish dishes and two desserts. Fish options include seabass, salmon, red porgy and catfish.

Okcu said one of his favorite dishes is the atom dish, which is made with roasted eggplant, yogurt with garlic, atomic pepper, oil, walnuts and paprika paste.

There are also eight Turkish desserts, including a pistachio baklava, a traditional pastry made with phyllo dough, honey, spices and pistachio.

"We hope people come and try it," Okcu said. "Right now, we are just letting everyone know we are open."

The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to midnight every day.
