Terrifying new passenger footage shows giant waves crashing into cruise ship window

Updated

A Royal Caribbean cruise ship ran into high winds and rough seas in the Atlantic Ocean, forcing the Florida-bound vessel to retreat back to its home port in Cape Liberty, New Jersey.

Royal Caribbean reported that the Anthem of the Seas sustained some damage but, miraculously, only four people were injured of the 4,500 guests and 1,600 crew members on board during the incident.

Stephen J Burke, a musical performer on the ship, shared some harrowing footage of the event on YouTube.

Burke's shocking video, which was shot from inside his room on the third deck, really proves that Mother Nature is a force to be reckoned with.

In the video, Burke and another passenger calmly stare out of their window while the angry waves pound the side of the ship.

"We're just staying in one place, hoping not to die," one of the men can be heard saying. "Jesus Christ man. We're underwater, under the third floor."

Silver lining? All passengers reportedly received full refunds and certificates toward a future cruise -- if their stomachs can handle it, that is.
