Dee Gordon's leadoff home run was the best sports moment of the year
The best sports moment of the year happened in Miami, Fla. Monday night.
The Miami Marlins, mourning the tragic loss off 24-year-old star pitcher Jose Fernandez, who was killed in a boating accident early Sunday morning, took to the field against the New York Mets.
The game started in a way seemingly Hollywood could only predict.
Dee Gordon, the Marlins' left-handed hitting second baseman, took the first pitch in the opening AB of the game from the right side of the plate, in honor of Fernandez. Then, he switched over to the left side of the plate. And did this:

It was Gordon's first home run of the season.
"I told the guys, if you don't believe in God, you might as well start," he said after the game.
