With Teddy Bridgewater out, who will start for the Minnesota Vikings?

Teddy Bridgewater suffers non-contact injury during Vikings practice

Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suffered a torn ACL and dislocated knee during practice on Tuesday. Now, people are now scrambling to find out who is the team's backup quarterback or who will step in to replace the rising star.

The answer is 36-year-old journeyman Shaun Hill. Hill was the team's backup last season, playing in three games and completing 2-of-7 passes for 15 yards. He began his career with Minnesota in 2005, and has played 10 seasons with four teams.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time Hill has been a backup when the starter has suffered an injury. It has happened twice before, as Sports Illustrated's Chris Burke tweeted.

Maybe this dude is just bad luck.

Hill's best NFL season came in 2010 when he replaced an injured Stafford. Hill made 10 starts and completed 257-of-416 passes (61.8 percent) for 2,686 yards, 16 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He made eight starts two years ago when Bradford went down, throwing for 1,657 yards, eight TDs and seven interceptions.

A graduate of Maryland, Hill has an overall record of 16-18 in his career as a starter. Behind him on the depth chart are rookie Joel Stave and second-year pro Taylor Heinicke.

The Vikings could look outside the organization for quarterback help. Mark Sanchez might be available for a trade after Trevor Siemian was named the Denver Broncos' starter. Maybe the Jets would deal backup Geno Smith at the right price. Matt Cassel could also be revisited. The 49ers might look to trade Colin Kaepernick, but it's unlikely someone would acquire him considering the circumstances.

The Vikings open up their 2016 season at the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 11.
