POLL: Should steroid users be voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame?

How do baseball fans view Alex Rodriguez?

Alex Rodriguez's sudden retirement announcement has once again revived one of sports' most prominent debates: Should suspected steroid users be allowed into Cooperstown's Baseball Hall of Fame?

It's a question with no clear answer. Some make the point that cheaters shouldn't be rewarded for belittling the game, while others make the point that if most players of the so-called Steroid Era were using, then the playing field was, in fact, level after all. A different contingent suggests letting suspected PED users into Cooperstown, but set apart from other greats -- in the "Steroid Wing."

All sides of the argument have at least some legitimacy, but where you stand could have a lot to do with your age -- or, rather, the age of baseball you grew up watching.

If you grew up watching a brand of baseball in which steroids weren't even a thought, then there's a good chance you're at least a bit perturbed at the notion of steroid guys sharing the same shine as those before them who played "clean."

But the generation that grew up on Bonds, Sosa and McGwire gunning for the record books, leaving those guys out of the conversation just seems like ignoring the tremendously talented elephant in the room. Major League Baseball wouldn't be what it is today without that generation -- and it's not as if the league took any issue with juiced-up meat heads singlehandedly reviving the sport.

What side of the debate do you agree with? Vote in the poll below to gauge where you stand amongst your peers.
