Reports: Anderson Varejao Will Sign with Warriors

Anderson Varejao was the first man to ever play for both teams in the NBA Finals in one season. He began the 2015-2016 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, was traded to Portland and ended up signing with the Golden State Warriors for the veteran's minimum in February.

So technically, no matter what happened in the Finals, Varejao was nearly a lock to get a ring. Unless he declined it.

Cleveland.com reported that Varejao will not receive a ring from the Cavs unless he wants one, which is all good and well, because Varejao won't take one anyways.

Varejao made history, and he won't get a ring out of it. This sounds like a sad story, but Varejao's dedication to the Warriors is shining through. He wants to win a ring with the team that he's currently on. That's understandable.

Fortunately for Varejao, he might not have to wait long for one. Golden State assembled a superteam this month when they added Kevin Durant to a lineup that has made the Finals twice in two years, winning it all once. The Warriors are not only the team to beat in the West, they're now the team to beat in the entire NBA. Durant doesn't make this team lethal, they were already lethal. Durant might make this team unstoppable. While Varejao might regret this decision down the line if the Warriors don't pull off another championship, it seems like he's okay with his choice for now.
