Absolutely perfect: When ESPN showed Bill Belichick's draft setup, it was just his dog

Updated

Well, we have a new meme.

Bill Belichick takes a certain joy — if Belichick actually experiences that emotion — in making things tough on the media. So when ESPN cut to Belichick’s draft room (in quarantine times, it looked like his kitchen), it was fitting that Belichick was nowhere to be seen. But his dog, Nike, was sitting at the computer.

If that doesn’t make you chuckle, you might not be alive. This should become the new Smudge the cat by the end of the weekend.

And with the 36th pick of the 2020 NFL draft, Belichick’s dog picked Lenoir-Rhyne safety Kyle Dugger. He’s the highest pick the Division II program has ever produced.

It didn’t seem like the dog made the wrong pick, though he passed on a quarterback. Belichick came back on screen to give the dog a treat for grabbing Dugger.

There it is. The most fitting moment of the second day of the draft.
