Dak Prescott's brother Jace Prescott dies at 31

The Dallas Cowboys announced Thursday night that quarterback Dak Prescott’s brother Jace Prescott died at 31 years old.

Northwestern State also confirmed Jace’s death. Jace played offensive lineman at the Louisiana school from 2008-10. The cause of death was not reported.

Jace was one of three Prescott brothers along with Dak, 26, and Tad. Jace was the middle brother, according to the Shreveport Times.

“It is with great sadness and support that we share the news of the passing of Jace Prescott today,” the Cowboys statement reads. “The loss of Tad and Dak’s brother is devastating.

“At this incredibly difficult time, the Prescott family asks only for prayers and respect for their privacy.”

Cowboys announce news during NFL draft

The Cowboys announced the news in the middle of the first round of Thursday’s NFL draft.

The Times describes the Prescotts as a tight-knit family with Dak looking up to Jace during his playing days at Louisiana’s Haughton High School, where Jace also played. Dak and his brothers lost their mother Peggy in 2013 when she died of colon cancer.

All three brothers appeared in a Campbell’s Chunky Soup commercial together in 2019.

“He was a great kid who dominated games,” Prescott's high school football coach, Rodney Guin told The Times of Jace. “He was a pleasure to coach — as were all the Prescott boys.”

Jace also thew the shot put on the Haughton track team as a standout high school athlete.
