Italian woman gives cops bizarre reason for breaking quarantine

People will come up with any excuse to break quarantine — even if it doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.

Case in point: Earlier this week, when a 60-year-old Italian woman was confronted by the police about breaking quarantine, she told them that she was taking her turtle for a stroll, according to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero.

Unsurprisingly, the police didn’t find the woman’s justification to be satisfactory. In accordance with Italy’s quarantine laws, she was fined and sent home.

Though the woman ultimately wasn’t able to use her turtle as an excuse to get out of the house, people on Twitter are at least taking pleasure in her valiant effort.

“Oh to be an Italian woman fined for walking around with her turtle during quarantine,” one person said.

“Surely they couldn’t have travelled far from the house?” another user joked about the turtle’s notoriously slow speed.

All jokes aside, please respect the quarantine laws and do not try to take your turtle for a walk.
