Dancing 97-year-old WWII Navy pilot becomes an internet sensation
There’s more to 97-year-old Chuck Franzke than meets the eye. The WWII former Navy pilot, who has been dubbed “Dancing Chuck” by his followers on social media, has become a bit of a viral sensation for the videos he shares of himself busting a move.
His latest video features him socially distancing on the porch of his Wisconsin home, complete with an American flag in the background. The senior shuffles side to side and shakes his hips to Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”
“I feel that hot blood in my body when it drops (ooh), I can’t take my eyes up off it, movin’ so phenomenally,” the song blares as Franzke moves about.

The video has gotten over 1 million views and even caught the attention of Timberlake himself.
“This just made my day,” Timberlake commented on one version of the video shared on Instagram.
This isn’t Dancing Chuck’s first foray into internet fame. He’s been a social media sensation since 2017, when a video of him dancing to Christmas music went viral. He made headlines again in 2018 for grooving to some classic Frank Sinatra.
“I don’t know, I just get up there and some music just starts playing and I just start bouncing around. When the music stops, I go back and sit down,” Franzke told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Franzke and his wife, Beverly, have been together for 75 years. In their youth, Franzke says they were both big music fans.
“We were big band fans,” Franzke told CBS59. “I used to jitterbug when I was young. I can’t jitterbug today. My balance isn’t good. But I just like music and I like her, too.”
Beverly says he was always a pretty good dancer. When asked how the couple managed to stay together so long, he had some wise words: “Love gets you to the altar, then trust and respect get you through the next 70 years.”
