Friends throw 9-year-old surprise birthday party on Animal Crossing: 'I am so lucky'
Animal Crossing: New Horizons could not have launched at a better time.
The new edition of the popular game was released on March 20 on the Nintendo Switch and is one of the first examples of a Switch game with access to social features. Now you can “friend” people by searching for their username and talk to them.
A bonus of the social feature — especially during the time of self-isolating and quarantine — is all the creativity and connectivity it’s sparked.
Playstation producer Alexia Christofi shared that a group of her friends threw her daughter, Sophia, a surprise 9th birthday party on Animal Crossing since Sophia wasn’t allowed to throw a real party with her friends.
“They brought gifts, let off party poppers, played music and played a few games of hide and seek,” Christofi shared on Twitter. “It was wonderful and she loved it and I am so lucky to have friends like them!”
Christofi also shared a sweet video of Sophia’s reaction when she realized what was happening in the game.
