Viral video shows police officer grabbing black woman during arrest in Miami Beach

A viral video filmed last week showed a cop shoving a black woman and grabbing her by the neck during an arrest in Miami Beach, according to a local report.

The police said they made nine arrests while handling spring break crowds along and near the Florida city’s Ocean Drive, WPLG reported.

In an Instagram post sharing the clip, the Miami-Dade chapter of the NAACP decried the incident. “This maltreatment does not happen to any other group during high-impact events and days,” the chapter said in the caption.

Ruban Roberts, the chair of the local NAACP chapter, has called on City Manager Jimmy Morales and Police Chief Richard Clements to resign, according to The Miami Herald.

Morales did not respond to a request for comment, and a spokesperson for the city did not respond to an email requesting comment from Clements.

But Clements said in a statement to WPLG: “If you come to Miami Beach to cause problems, we will intervene and take enforcement action.”
