College student makes $1,700 mistake in an Uber: 'I literally thought it was a dream'

A British college student was almost successfully responsible after a night out.

He was on a good path when he decided to call an Uber home after an evening of drinking in Newcastle, England, but accidentally typed in an address in Norwich, a town 250 miles away from his intended destination.

The engineering student, who requested to be called James, told SWNS that he slept through most of the five-hour trip and was stunned when he realized he was hundreds of miles away from campus.

With just $1,000 and one day, this Harlem bedroom gets a brand new look:

“When I woke up, I literally thought it was a dream. Surely I hadn’t done this,” he said to SWNS.

The bill ended up being £1,307.64 (roughly $1,700), but the driver was surprisingly fine with the accident and didn’t end up charging James for the trip. In response, James gave him a five-star rating.

James then got on a train back to Newcastle but was consequently fined for not buying a train ticket and also missed all of his classes for the day.

Uber company policy does not have a set limit for how far an Uber can take you, but there is a time limit of four hours. Unfortunately for this driver, Uber caps the number of hours UK drivers can be logged in to accept trips at 10 hours, meaning the driver wasted half of that time for no money.
