Woman claims she was left 'traumatized' by KFC staff: 'I felt humiliated'

A woman claims to have been “humiliated” and “traumatized” by KFC staff after visiting the franchise in Colliers Wood, London.

Vanessa Franco, who identifies as a life-long vegetarian, went to KFC to try out the new vegan burger. However, about three bites into the meal, she realized she was eating chicken.

Franco said when she complained to the staff about the order, they “laughed” at her and asked why she didn’t notice before eating almost all of the chicken burger. Franco said she tried to explain that she couldn’t tell the difference right away because she’d been a vegetarian for so long.

Eventually, the manager came out and gave Franco a vegan burger, but Franco claims it wasn’t even properly cooked. When she complained a second time, she said the manager didn’t even apologize.

“All of the staff stood there staring at me. I felt humiliated and have been left traumatized due to not only a lifestyle choice but also religion being broken and made fun of,” Franco said, according to Inside Edition.

No reports specify what Franco’s religion actually is, but her statement suggests it was against her faith to eat the chicken.

A KFC spokesperson issued a statement explaining that the fast-food chain was trying to implement a stricter process to ensure the separation of the meat products and vegan products — including using different tongs and storage units — and offered Franco a free meal to “put things right.”
