Principal on leave for Kobe Bryant post: 'Karma caught up...'

A high school principal from Washington State is on administrative leave over a Facebook post about Kobe Bryant's death.

A statement released by the Camas School District on Tuesday revealed that it was looking into a post shared by Camas High School principal Liza Sejkora on Jan. 26, the day that the NBA legend perished in a helicopter crash alongside his 13-year-old daughter and seven others.

"Not gonna lie. Seems to me that karma caught up with a rapist today," Sejkora wrote, referring to the 2003 incident in which Bryant was accused of raping a 19-year-old at a Colorado resort.

Sejkora promptly deleted the message an hour later. She opened up about the incident on Monday, calling it "inappropriate" and "tasteless."

"In education, we remind students to think before they post online, especially when feelings are inflamed," the educator said. "My emotions and past experiences got the best of me in that moment."

"It's just really insensitive," said Camas High School student Adam Hoteit to Komo News. "There's no real position for her to say that. Especially when she's in such a place of power that she is right now. She represents the school and that's how everyone's gonna see this town and this school."

On Wednesday, students at the school had organized a walkout to protest their principal's actions. The walkout was planned for nine minutes, one minute for each of the victims.
